Abstraction Vase 7

My latest series, called Abstraction, delves into the act of abstract painting by pouring liquid colour into a mould instead of on a canvas.  Layers of porcelain slip are cut, peeled away, poured, marbled and painted using brushes and other tools to create an entirely one of a kind vase, that isn't revealed until it's pulled out of the kiln.  The series expresses my interest in painting, referencing the abstract expressionist paintings that I was drawn to in Art school.  A completely new take on the mark-makings of abstraction (the drips, the pours, the randomness of the mark, the geometry, line and composition), each vase is a painting in the round.

This vase measures 12.25" tall and 4.5" wide at the top.  Glazed interior makes this vase perfect to hold blooms, but it can certainly stand alone and be displayed as an art piece.
