Printed Canister Soda/Salt Fired

100.00

Great for storing dry items on your counter like coffee beans or oats, these wheel-thrown canisters with a printed pattern on each side were in my most recent Soda/Salt firing! They measure approximately 7” tall with the far right yellow circle pattern being the smallest size at 6” tall.

Soda/Salt firing is an atmospheric firing technique where Sodium Bicarbonate and Salt is introduced into the kiln near top temperature (2350°, ∆10). The soda/salt vaporizes and is carried on the flame throughout the kiln. The soda vapors create a glaze when it lands on a piece (or a kiln post, or the wall of the kiln). Wherever the flame travels- so does the soda. The results in the Soda kiln can’t be recreated and each piece is one of a kind.
